Strengths:

The Bowflex Xtreme 2 is compact - even for a Bowflex gym - with the reinforced "X"-shaped base for extra stability.

The no change cable pulley system lets you move from squats to lats to leg workouts without changing cables. This can also keep your heart rate up as you move through your workout.

You also get over 70 exercises, a complete fitness guide (with detailed instructions for each exercise), 4 position lower pulley/squat station, 5 way hand-grip/ankle cuffs, ab crunch shoulder harness and a leg extension/leg curl attachment.

The Xtreme 2 also has high user and expert ratings. Consumer Guide rated the Bowflex Extreme 2 machine 4 out of 5 stars giving it high marks for value, performance and ease of use.

In August 2004, Popular Mechanics had Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk from the 80’s TV show and former Mr. Universe) compare the Bowflex Xtreme 2 to 5 other infomercial machines.

Ferrigno liked the Bowflex Extreme 2 best - which says a lot about a product when a professional bodybuilder says they like a machine. The Extreme 2 also gets 5 out of 5 stars from user at epinions.

Weaknesses:

Although you may not care about this - the Xtreme 2 does not come with a rowing machine like the Bowflex Ultimate Gyms. There's also no preacher curl attachment.

Bottom Line: Highly Recommended

The Bowflex Extreme 2 is an upgrade on the Extreme and gives you more exercises (70+), the no change cable pulley system, 2 position lat bar and a longer squat frame.

It's a great options if space is limited as it's compact without being cheap or wobbly.

Experienced fitness trainers will probably want to get the extra resistance (410 pounds). But for what you get, along with the high quality of construction and high expert reviews, the Bowflex Xtreme 2 is an excellent value.
